On the weekend of April 1st, we embarked on an 8-Week Fitness Challenge. Eight weeks is not a long time to have an enormous effect on the body (we didn't get "unfit" in just 8 weeks, and we won't get "fit" in just 8 weeks ... but we can sure set a base, give our metabolism a boost and establish some new, healthy habits in just 8 weeks!), but these four challengers slayed! They remained consistent, they showed up, they kept an eye on nutrition and they remained motivated and pumped - and they now have the results to show for it and to take with them forward on their wellness journey!
So now, without further ado, here are our "Final Four" finalists - from fourth place on up to first!

How freaking stoked am I that our current most "seasoned" (aka - eldest) boot camper is our freaking winner?! Barbara has truly proven that age ain't nothing but a number and anything is possible if you set your mind to it! Barbara never missed a class she was registered for, and when she was here, she pushed, pushed, PUSHED. She did not accept modifications if I suggested them to her - she was here to do the workout as prescribed, age and bad knees be damned! (But ok, eventually she did accept *some* modifications as, oh yeah, she has two super bum knees! #NoExcuses). I also know that everyone is going to be as excited as I am about Barbara being our winner, as this could not happen to a nicer, more caring person! Congratulations Barbara! As your grand prize - we're upgrading your LITE membership to UNLIMITED at no extra cost for summer 2017! I can't wait to see what you can really do now that you will have unlimited access!
Holy cannoli - for serious you guys - everyone crushed this challenge! While the scale might not yet show the hard work so many of you are doing (more on that in a later post) - all the other bench marks we have sure do! There is not one person who didn't improve upon their times and/or reps on their fit test. Below are some amazing outstanding performance mentions!
Run Test (0.3 miles):
Ali: Went from a 2:29 to a 2:07, shaving off 22 seconds! Shaving that much time off of anything that was sub-2:30 to start is a crazy accomplishment! PS - That's a 7:03 minute per mile pace!
Danyelle: Went from a 2:51 to a cool 2:14, shaving off 37 freaking seconds! Um, girl, keep that ish up! PS - You were running a 7:27 minute per mile pace!
Gaby: You took your run from a 2:34 to a 2:18! I sense a sub-2:00 minute during our next challenge! PS - You were running a 7:40 minute per mile pace!
Jackie: Girrrrrrrrl, you're shaving your time down! You'll def be sub-2:00 minute on our next round. You went from a 2:21, which was already ridiculous fast, to a 2:08 - that's a 7:07 minute per mile pace!
Maryam: YOWZERS! You took it sub-2:00 this round! From a 2:05 eight weeks ago to 1:47 this weekend! Um, that's a 5:57 minute per mile (blistering) pace!
Shannon D: Crikey! You're going to be in the sub-2:00 club next round too! You took it from a 2:30 to a 2:04! That's a 6:53 minute / mile pace you were running!
Chico: Our overall fastest 0.3 miler! But only by a second! You came in at 1:46, besting your previous time of 1:58! Can't wait to see how much faster you can get! PS - You were running a 5:53 min per mile pace!
Push-Ups in a Minute:
Everyone increased their pushup amount, some more than doubled their original numbers! Below are some push-up performance shout-outs!
Bree increased her performance from 8 weeks ago by 15 pushups!
Ali more than doubled her number and went from 5 to 13!
Danyelle also more than doubled her number, going from 7 to 20!
Gaby added 10 to her original number of 8!
Jackie more than tripled her original number of 5 to hit 16!
Maryam added a whopping 20 to her already whopping start number of 24, to land at 44 pushups!
Peggy doubled her original number to land in the double digits at 10!
And Shannon added a cool 14 pushups to her total, taking her to 34 after the 8 weeks!
Burpees in a Minute:
Well, our grand champion Barbara went from being able to do 0 burpees 8 weeks ago, to 5 this weekend! That's another huge win!
Ali went from being able to complete 10 burpees in a minute to being able to knock out 19! That's almost double the burpees, y'all!
Danyelle went from doing a whole lotta burpees at 16 eight weeks ago, to a whole lotta burpees at 18 this weekend!
Gaby tacked on another 5 burpees to her already impressive 23 burpee total from 8 weeks ago!
Maryam added 9 burpees, bringing her total this weekend to 23!
Peggy yet again doubled her numbers, going from 7 burpees to 14!
Plank for Time:
This is always a fun one to watch. I don't allow the participants to see the clock, as their minds will tell them to drop well before their bodies do. And wouldn't ya know it - we always end up getting some killer performances outta these athletes once they take their heads outta the game and just let their bodies do the work. Check the results below!
First off - Peggy crushed this challenge with a 5:00 minute plank! She improved on her previous (already impressive) time by 1:34!
Maryam ended up being our overall plank winner, adding 0:57 to her previous plank time to end up at a 6:05! Yes - girl held a plank for 6 minutes and 5 seconds!
Chico added 1:20 to his plank time to come in at 3:54. 4:00+ is just over that horizon!
Danyelle added almost a minute to her plank time to end on a 1:44!
And surprise, surprise, surprise ... Alby added 0:48 seconds to her previous time from 8 weeks ago to end up with a 2:27 plank!
Next 8-Week Challenge starts the weekend of July 8th! What will YOUR results be???
